North Bay and Central Ontario - Anishinabek Nation
Indigenous Law Cases in North Bay & Central Ontario
The Anishinabek Nation is one of the oldest Indigenous political affiliations in Ontario, tracing its roots long before European contact to a body called the Confederacy of Three Fires. It now represents 39 First Nations throughout the province of Ontario from Golden Lake in the east, Sarnia in the south, Thunder Bay and Lake Nipigon in northern Ontario.
Carol Godby is a lawyer and Indigenous rights advocate who exclusively represents the interests of First Nations people. She has extensive experience in representing clients throughout Ontario in their assertion of land and treaty rights impacted either by previous or proposed developments in Indigenous territories. CG Law Group has assisted clients in their governance initiatives, including in the cannabis and energy sectors and has acted to help Nations protect their traditional knowledge. Carol has also frequently advised and represented First Nation in employment related matters.
Carol has worked both with the Anishinabek Nation and many of its member communities. She would be pleased to meet in your Nation to discuss your legal needs with the goal of advancing and protecting Indigenous rights.
